Cosmetic eyelid surgery, technically known as blepharoplasty. As we age, we develop loose and sagging skin and even fat on the upper and lower eye-lid. This excess skin can be removed to restore youthfulness on the face.
The procedure involves removal of excess fat or skin from upper and lower eyelids. With the advancement of medical science and technology, this procedure can be performed surgically or even non-surgically.
The latest method to do this procedure is using Plasma, which is a non-surgical method to reduce the excess skin. As a non-surgical procedure there are no cuts or stiches, and plasma technology is used to tighten the skin.
What is Non-Surgical Plasma Blepharoplasty?
It is tightening of skin using a revolutionary technology called ” Plasma” the fourth state of matter – solid, liquid gas and plasma, It’s the technology used in weapons of ” Star Wars”.
The biggest advantage of this technology is, there is no incision, no stiches and no downtime.
A small handheld device, which is very precise and help treat small areas like the upper or lower eyelids, upper lips and even crows feet. The areas are treat without touching or harming the skin.
It very similar to lightening, when lightning hits an object it vaporizes it and converts it to carbon. On the skin, plasma vaporizes cells, leaving behind very small injuries in the form of carbon. As the body heals these injuries, new smoother and tighter skin is revealed. In the procedure we aim to tighten the excess skin by targeting localized area without damaging the surrounding areas.
Why Blepharoplasty?
The excess skin around are eyes, is one of the first tell for ageing. The skin continues to sag and overtime it looks like one has layers of skin around the eyes.
Blepharoplasty is removal of upper eyelid skin to remove excess skin that forms folds and covers the eyelashes. It reduces sagging skin of upper eyelid and gives a fresh look to the eyes.
What should one consider before choosing between Surgical Blepharoplasty and non-surgical plasma Blepharoplasty?
Surgery over non-Surgical, is always a debate. As medical science is evolving, new technology and devices are help us deliver solutions to people that are non-surgical. Both have its advantages and both deliver amazing results. However, the results will be determined by when the procedure was performed.
Nonsurgical Plasma lift is for people with mild skin sagging and who do not yet need surgical intervention. Hence people who opt for treatment early can benefit for this. It is also for people who are reluctant to undergo invasive procedure. Your doctor will help you decide what is most suitable for you based in the extent of the problem.
However, in patient’s with excess fat bulge may require a surgical blepharoplasty to remove the fat bags.
Who is a good candidate for Blepharoplasty?
Male or female patient above 35 years who have developed excess skin fold in the upper eyelid, or have to overuse forehead muscle to open their eyes wide are good candidates for this procedure. It is also suitable for people with puffy or baggy upper eyelids, crow’s feet, barcode lines over upper lips and crumply skin over their tummies.
Possible side effects of the Non-Surgical Blepharoplasty?
It may require few sessions to achieve desired outcome. Most people who come at an early stage get results in one session.
It may have risks of skin discoloration or pigmentation in dark skin people.
It is non-invasive and does not require general anesthetic or stitches. During the procedure the patient may feel burning or tingling sensation.
As a result of the procedure, temporary scabbing of the skin will occur. Its best to keep the area clean and dry for quick healing.
What is the recovery period and downtime of Non-Surgical Blepharoplasty?
Almost none. After the procedure there is mild scabbing in the upper lid region. Since there is no swelling and bruising, patients can go out the next day itself. The scabs can also be concealed using makeup.
Patients are advised to keep away from direct sun exposure during the recovery period.
Are the results permanent?
The results are as long lasting as surgical. However, the aging process continues, one will continue to develop new excess skin and over a period of time they will need to repeat the procedure to continue looking young.
What others areas on the face can be treated with Plasma to achieve skin tightening?
The Plasma technology can be used for skin tightening on small areas to help flatten wrinkles around eyes, lips and cheeks.
The Plasma technology can also be used to remove skin tags.

I want to thank you for the great effort and expertise that you put in the hair transplant procedure which you did on me. You have fixed a big cut from a previous, very bad hair transplant in Jordan. It kept me very nervous and uncomfortable for very long time. Now, after conducting this surgery by you, I feel very very happy because the cut is almost gone. I like your personality and professionalism. I am really glad that I made a decision to come to Dubai and conduct the surgery at Cocoona Clinic Thank you very much.
